How to Do Pit Fighting

    1. Post message in #downtime-log with all features prefaced BEFORE rolling. Refer to the example below.
    2. A DM will roll the required checks. Rolls must hit or pass the DC in order to be successful. If desired, the character can replace one of these skill checks with an attack roll using one of the character’s weapons.
      • Athletics.
      • Acrobatics.
      • Constitution + hit die value to the roll.
    3. See the check success table to the left for outcome of the rolls.
    4. Roll for the chance of complication.
      • If the result is a 1 on a d10 or 1-10 on d100, refer to the complication section.
Lilo spends 5 downtime days partaking in the fighting pits and 5gp for modest lifestyle. She will be replacing her athletics check with a dagger attack roll, acrobatics and the constitution check. She will use her halfling racial trait “lucky” if she rolls at a Nat 1 for any of the rolls.

Complications: Characters involved in pit fighting must deal with their opponents, the people who bet on matches, and the matches’ promoters. Every workweek spent pit fighting brings a 10 percent chance of a complication. For more information, click here for the Hostiles & Rivals.

    • Hostile Contacts give -1 on every skill check involving downtime. Characters are required to spend these until no hostile contacts remaining.
    • Rival Contact give a permanent -1 to all checks involving the downtime performed by that character, until resolved.
D6 Complication Outcome
1 An opponent swears to take revenge on you. (Rival)
2 A crime boss approaches you and offers to pay you to intentionally lose a few matches. (Resolved by losing next pit fight)
3 You defeat a popular local champion, drawing the crowd’s ire. (Hostile)
4 You defeat a noble’s servant, drawing the wrath of the noble’s house. (Donate a gift of apology worth at least 250 GP or take +5 to all DCs for next pit fight.)
5 You are accused of cheating. Whether the allegation is true or not, your reputation is tarnished. (Spend another 5 downtime days, repairing reputation.)
6 You accidentally deliver a near-fatal wound to a foe. (Cannot enter pit fighting for 5 days.)
